-A pioneering project to research, assess and construct an advanced prototype of a net zero/energy-plus building in Jamaica-
The construction of the building is to conduct research in renewable energy and develop practical, working solutions that will transform the use of energy in building policies and practices in Jamaica and across tropical and sub-tropical countries. It is also designed to encourage the implementation of appropriate regulatory, educational and technical tools that will mainstream lessons and transform opportunities for promoting energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources across these regions.
Lessons acquired will be disseminated across the Caribbean region, and into other tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It is a ground-breaking project that seeks to demonstrate how net zero building designs can simultaneously improve energy efficiency, reduce a country’s energy imports, minimize exposure to the risk of energy price volatility in future, and reduce the contribution of energy to climate change.
